My latest obsession(s)

Nothing fancy, glamorous and expensive. My latest obsession are just my kittens :) I am so in love and protective of them. I'd leave office early, just to catch and play with them. I hold them close to my heart, and I kiss them whenever possible. The funniest thing about it, is that until today I have not named the kittens, eventhough the newest but the eldest addition has been a few months old now. My brother did named them eventually, something I don't think I quite like, so I've decided to just call the eldest Kitty Cat for now. Okay, that's my quick update for now. I owe myself an update. Love, Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

Beer Pongs

Hi folks,  I haven't been updating this space for about a month now thanks to an intense juggle between family, what little social life I have, work and some more freelancing.  So I'm going to fill up this space every now and then on what I spend most of my months on, just to give you a little insight on what's happening around KK. I take personal interactions very seriously, that said I believe in catching up with people face to face rather than dropping a text or two. Okay fine, in some cases you can only do that.  I wake up most mornings to train on my marathon. No, no don't get excited I just glorified the run,  cause I'm only running 10KM. Hehehe. This is my first time participating in a run, a night run while I'm at it, and it's my first. So I'm kind of excited. Besides my training for that puny marathon I'm joining, we do Salsa every month as well.  After work on Mondays, it's quite good for the mind :) And last month...

My Monkey Suit

Me and my monkey suit. Blazed up, nametag and a neatly tied hair. And a stolen MAC. WAHAHAHAHA. Love, Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

Ah decisions

The guy up there can never seem to package all things good, bundle it all and put a bow on it just for once can't he. There's almost nothing in life that comes together that will fit perfectly for you. There must be some sort of misfit - your wishes, your wants, and your needs clashing, hitting hard at each other, nudging you by the second making you wonder what is the compromise between what is good for your soul, and what exactly do you really want. Is it the pursuit of the temporary luxury, with the time for yourself at expense? Or the mediocrity, simple happiness but you may be living with the ever lasting what if questions. People assume that most of us forget or do not want to chase our dreams. Sometimes, we just work hard all arounds all our ways to realize them, longer. Should we fulfil little ones along the way (me travelling whenever I can), or put all the eggs in one basket and work hard to realise all of it next time (finally flying somewhere for a really l...

Crayons

It was on a casual Tuesday morning that I discovered what my biggest fear in life is. 30 Seconds to Mars was playing in the background, and what I figured would be the usual ears-breaking song, the next number, ironically gave me a fuller sense of emptiness. The  100 Suns was playing, and I subconsciously lost myself in it. I wasn't working then, and getting used to a whole new environment here in KK after 6 years of the hustle and bustle needed more than just time. I needed motivation, some sort of inspiration and a whole load of ambition. I needed goals to look forward to.  It is a haunting song. Lyrically, conceptually. Then and there, like a snap conclusion, I found out what is my biggest fear in life: Which is to live like an empty vessel.  To not have any goals in life, nor ambitions, motivations, inspirations and love. That fear I developed, was becoming. I was sending mum to work, fetching her, while I had so much of love for the people and things around me,...

Trees!

Posting up stuff at 1.50pm on a Tuesday noon, because I can :) Here are some pictures I finally get to dig out from Facebook, and share with you. After 6 years of celebrating Christmas and immediately packing over, last year, I finally get to stretch my legs on the sofa, devour some Christmas cookies and listen to old school Christmas songs till its' 12th day, and just take my time to soak up the Christmasness around me. This is a humble creation of me and my mum. We came up with a lovely theme, hence the softer colours, and the unconventional green and red setup. Told mum, that we'll be doing something different, and we did :) She also went a little crazy with the Christmas trees, ended up buying two more sets, though smaller. Other than that, A couple of weeks back, we also visited my brother in Kampung Marudu, 2 hours drive from my house. Pesta jagung is ALL about the jagung = corn . The contestants literally dressed up in corn. ANND, I dyed my hair b...

Hi, how are you?

I haven't been properly connected to the world wide web since forever. I know. I was away last week for an impromptu trip to Perhentian (which was all kinds of gorgeous) and Penang and I'm bad with technology so it's almost impossible to catch me online or see me updating anything about everywhere. Near impossible actually. I'm now in Krabi with mum and sister. Not impromptu. Planned this with mum since a few months back, just to give ourselves a bit of bonding and some lovin' :) I'm a very, "live during the moment" kind of person. I hardly record any of the things that I see or experience, let alone share it. Been trying to break this bad habit and been trying to make sure I have good moments recorded at times. Been actively doing so since my ex-colleagues got me a camera :) I am blessed. How about you? Love & peace, Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

So what do I look like?

In relation to the previous post, Linda said I look like a Kaleidoskop. Love & peace, Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

I am a walking mismatch

It is so hard to force-vomit yourself with words and inspirations online, when you think there hasn't be anything interesting going on in your life... We all know that's bullshit. 'Cause there's always something interesting going on in my life - forgotten or unwritten. So I'll make it a practice to update "something" based on a picture I chose. Any picture, could be a picture of a cat lazily lying on the floor (I sure know how to relate to this), or maybe even a picture of a pair of flip-flops or even something so vintage it happened even before I was born, y'know. Anything. So today's picture is (as inspired by Yuen and Audrey's FB comments) ; That freakshow in tights would be me - if you were to ask me for an explanation of the things I wear everyday, you'd prolly hear cricket sounds, cause I have no sense in my dressing. Reasonings yes - some parts of my attire have a story of its's own and that is why they end up on me. Logical reas...

Where IS everyone?

Don't you hate it when you keep chanting to yourself to 'sleep early tonight, and get a much deserved rest' when the next thing you know - bright early in the morning you are brutally harassing the snooze button for at least a good one hour to 'compensate some rest' cause you slept, say at 2am before that night. You know, 'cause the time just went by like that. Been quite occupied with a lot of stuff lately, moving being one of it. I've moved to my old place cause the current house will be returned back to it's owner this coming June, and 'cause one of the room in the current place is now vacant as well so my cousin invited me to move back in. Took about two full weekends to remove all my stuff to my current room. Was caught with some meeting during the weekend, and I actually wrote this about a place. I'm sure you can guess where I was, from this ; I'm in this evil place ; of overpriced lattes, over-caffeinated metropolitan strugglers and ma...

Because I'm one of those who tries really hard to avoid Valentines

I do, I really do. I hate that a lot of the stuff are doubled the usual price. I hate that the restaurants have this menu called 'The Love Menu'. I hate that suddenly all charity organisations jump into the bandwagon of charging flowers triple or quadruple the normal price. I hate that suddenly all the singles get all defensive, when I ask daily things after work like, "so what's the plan" - they get all niggah on me and say OH LIKE THAT NOWLAH. Until, I see Daren all groomed up, with his long jeans, and a white Padini Shirt and in his stylish new Cotton On shoes, and to a place to bring me to (apparently just cause it's a Monday) and well to avoid at all cause that if I ever do, get all retarded and gloomy that he didn't do anything for me during "Valentines". When by his nature, maybe even when he's sleeping - he lives in just random short pants, a simple tee and a pair of faded slippery flip flops. You know, the best part about him being m...

Brunch, beach and cocktails.

I don’t know when I will fall out of love from this exhilarating sensation of racing against time, packing up, sleepless nights and of torn green backpack. The whole idea of travelling is sometimes deemed as a total disconnection from well, “the rest”. Am I happy working hard, earning, and then spending on moving around? Yes. Leaves me breathless whenever I’m back in the office, grasping for some reality check. That sensation, right at that moment when I’m setting up my workstation after an intense holiday – right that moment, is an unidentified dot that connects me back to that life. I feel like a bullet train, stopped with signs, but of course wrecked regardless eventually after a bit of travelling. And truth is, I see the cracks, I feel it, and loved the experience that it gave me. Like how love and other drugs give you the greatest strangest sensation, traveling is an utmost exciting drug that I can’t seem to find a placebo of. Not through reading, not through watching. It has ...

2010 the year that was

This my dear friends is what you call an obligatory year end post. Something that you have absolutely no time to squeeze into your to do list, but kind of necessary because well, it’s kind of prepostorous not to recap whatever happened to your life in a year. That would mean, to summarize as a whole of whatever happened to you in about, 365 days of your life last year. Not quite impossible. I started the year with skepticism. To leave home, to leave mum, to leave familiarity. See I’ve always loved travelling, and ever since I decided to study in KL about 5 years ago, I’ve learned amazing things that only I would have known. People poke fun of people with wisdom to learn it all sometimes, and people complain about the smallest issues at times, worst, people poke fun at people who are I guess, wants to live an uncertain life. Those who love living towards extremity. They find them too stupid sometimes. Though I have always been a firm believer of modesty, there are times where my extreme...

Thank you kind people, your thoughts are more precious

Mum's always a favourite of fantasy movies :) I wish I could bring her to watch Narnia - the first time we ever watched it was in Genting I think, and mum fell in love with it. Sigh. I miss you mummy - when I'm back for holiday I'll watch all kinds of movies with you okay? *kiss* And yes, the girl here still looks like you Jessy. Today I posted on my Facebook asking whether there are people out there who would lend me their phone, cause well', I dropped mine into the toilet bowl the other day :( You know what makes me happier? People's replies. I honestly, sincerely did not expect this :) Thanks kind people. You guys will go far in life. Love & peace, Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

And everything in between a busy schedule

I know life never goes according to plan, and even though we try our very best to make sure some elements in our life should go according to plan, for some strange reason life has it’s own twists and turns. So here’s to the year's remains and... To planning my 2011! Mummy and Aunty Moun paid us a visit last week, and I’ve always been that kind of daughter who tries a little too hard when it comes to spending time with my family when they’re around. I spoiled my sister a little too much sometimes, but she makes it up to me by being very independent nowadays. She manages her own public transport, her own walkabouts. I’m proud J This time around when mummy told me she wanted to go Melaka, I jumped at the idea and said yes to it without considering other million and one things around me. I have always been busy with work, so I told her that I would make all the necessary arrangements, all these while prioritizing on spending time with my family. I even brought my laptop down Melaka,...
