Weekend in Singapore

Earlier this year, I visited Singapore before shit hits the fan with all these health concerns. Why Singapore? Well, it was a silly story about me getting a stay voucher from a friend which was a puny of the retail price. Not knowing that there was a three months expiry date to it FML. (not looking at fine prints sounds very me yes) I got the voucher in December, and was scratching my head on when to go. I figured, January was the only time I could because February on-wards will be all kinds of busy. Luckily, and fortunately I went! Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to utilize it at all.. Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza  I initially wanted to stay at Sheraton Orchard Towers because I've heard of so many raving reviews about its location, and high tea (??). Of course, I mistakenly also thought that that was the property I had booked for. So when my friend told me it was the Tang Plaza, I was like heh? But omg, you know what they say. Pleasant surprise is the best kind of...

Weekend at Singapore

Last weekend I flew in to Singapore directly from Kota Kinabalu. Had it not been for the cheap fares I wouldn't have done that, I would have done the usual fly from KL after flying from KK. I don't know why but something about the latter is presumably cheaper. Audrey and I go way back. She was my first few friends in KL when I moved there to study in 2006, my first few classmate, my first few family. All those years of our idiosyncrasies and honesty - we became the best of friends the rest of us could have. We went through college, university, Australia, vacations and all the more together, she moved to SG, I moved back to KK, and for 9 years, we remain intact. She was literally in 1/3 of my life. I came to SG initially to catch the Laneway festival, but decided to cancel on it because I have a bigger trip this coming February. Minus being able to save a lot, this time, I get to really catch up with Audrey and Daren (who came from KL directly) and SLEEP in. We were luck...

Laneway Festival at Singapore 2011

LATEST UPDATE JANUARY 2014:  For some strange reason, the photos no longer appear on this post. I am uncertain what has happened to them, but I reckon it's a Blogger issue. For photos of this beautiful island, please check out my photos on Facebook HERE .  Dear friends, If you’re a massive indie music fan like me, and love free-spirited concerts; and if you had to choose to go to just one concert in a year (if you really have to). Laneway Festival is where your money should be at. The deets: January 29, Saturday at Fort Canning Park. Four simple reasons why: 1. It cost around 100SGD, about RM200 for a 10 hours concert. See that’s about RM20 for a set (up to 30 – 45 minutes depending on songs and solo pieces) when a one piece concert would usually have a set of just 45minutes, an hour tops (including intervals) to cost equally that much. If you really think about it, that’s a conjob. 2. It’s a bloody festival. That means eating fries and gulping down beer...
