Company Trip '10!

I have never been on a ship before. The idea of travelling around on water never really sparked interest to me, I’m thinking what contentment could it bring? The only thing you’d be looking out is an infinite shades of blue, stretch of grey skies.
Being the last minute traveller that I am (never been proud of this) I began packing only the night before. Okay, make that 3am the morning before I hop into the bus. I was also doing abit of housekeeping, clearing out emails sending out all the necessary reports, wrapping up presents. Every single time I travel to somewhere, I’m scrambling to complete everything on my to do list before I actually flew off, or ride off to somewhere. This time, was no exception.
Manage to get a shut-eye for a good 20 minutes before I run off to take the cab to meet the rest. Before I start, I would like to credit some of the photos besides mine from Fresh – the official photographer!
Singapore, Legend of the Seas
So we reached Singapore *just* in the nick of time to check in. Everyone was practically rushing towards the check in door, the best part? When we finally met up with the Singaporean Team we actually decided to snap a group photo – walking casually towards the check in door when one of the crew member gave us a really long lecture, almost felt like we weren’t allowed to check in to the cruise anymore. We vroomed our way to the ship entrance, and after much huffing and running we finally manage to get in.
Elise was my roomate J A sweetheart who was very caring towards the whole trip, making sure I have everything I needed there.

L-R: Clara, Elise and Me.
The best part about being dumped into a ship with so many of your friends and colleagues altogether is all the exploration and discovery of it.

The open air Swimming Pool/ Jacuzzi

Dining Room

Lounge / Club

We gathered together to play a game called ; 2 truths 1 lie. Everyone had to share their part and expect guesses and answers from the rest of them.
Guess which of mine was a lie :
I have a tatt
I used to have hair that looks like Firdy’s ;
I used to play drums back in high school.Actually all of it was somewhat true, the only difference is – I played drums in primary school and unfortunately didn’t carried through the hobby to high school. Now, I’m old grown up and talentless -_-
The first night itself, I uh, got boozed. Look at those:

Next thing I know the office was talking about a picture of me sleeping like a log on the couch. Haih. Embarassing.
Company trips are possibly the only time where most of us are gathered together. That screams – group discussions! If they’re no healthy discussions about what we do day to day and on our motivations to achieve our goals – life, or working for that matter would be pointless.
All of us have our own goals. Being in the advertising industry, I have learned that there’s almost no time such as slacking time. We have to constantly put on a thinking creative hat and be ready to take on every challenges and requests coming our way. Even at 2.00am in the morning! We woke up around 9am, awesome brunch and head up to meet the rest.
This trip brought alot of firsts in my life. Including my first time in Phuket. And I love every bit of it. The cheap cold beers in my hands. The scorching hot sun with it’s moisty breeze, the buzzing sounds of scooters, the parade of friendly k-nines, the array of colourful people flopped upside down in their even more colourful swimwear, the songs of splashing waves. And, there are so many things about beaches that I love, and unlike normal Sallys I love the messiness of it all. The rare sight in all of these makes me treasure these opportunities even more. The fact that it gets me even tanner than I already am, is something I guess I grew to love about.
Patong Beach

L-R: Sara, David, Linda and Me.
We even let go of some lanterns! Doesn’t matter whether it took me 10 bucks to just uh, “put my arms in mid air for a good 5 seconds, and see it flew up” it was really therapeutic, and well, a first time as well. Of course, the inspiration for this was from Rapunzel. Fell in love with the lighted up skies. Pretty lighted up skies. PRETTY LIGHTED UP SKIES.
Casino
Yes I am legal enough, and yes it was my first time entering a casino! I wanted to try the slot machines, so I changed my 5 bucks and Yuen and I were literally waiting, and pulling the slot to erm hoping to see 3 of the same image lined up. You know like a jackpot. Hopefuls we are -_-
By the time it went up to 9 bucks we went a little crazy and refused to give up until it reached the 10 bucks mark. That’s when the evil of gambling strikes, suddenly the money slipped down. We gave up halfway and won a couple of bucks back.
No pictures took though :(
Secret Santa
Right after Phuket, we had our Christmas Exchange gifts :) When everyone shares their gifts with each other and spend a good ol’ quality time. We discovered Apples the Apples, an evil game that encourages people to bicker against each other but of course, a rather healthy practice for people to persuade and convince their sales. Woot!
Apparently I had quite funny arguements, but I forgot all about it.
My Secret Santee was – the really super gorgeous Rina! Guess what, she was MY Secret Santa too!

Formal Night
The one thing that we nuffies are not really erm, quite the awesome in is dressing up in tux and gowns. See we come to office most of the time looking like :

So this was the only time where we put in a position to dress up, a little bit. I didn’t quite like my dress because it was a last minute thing, I manage to grab some stuff for RM30 – yeah, seriously a day before I went to the cruise. So I wrapped myself with some uh, pashmina and I’m kinda done.

I feel really lucky and blessed to be part of this company and this trip. I would never imagine to be doing this, but I did, and with that I get to share with all of you. 2010 was a very challenging year. But kinda thank God all that happened happened, because it puts me into position to look at things and life in a better perspective.

Love and Peace,

New Hair, New Things?

These Christmas songs playing in the background while I sort out some work never fail to make me wander. Beyond simplicity stuff.

Like, how I was just talking to Swee Wei that if she could venture into something else she should do stuff that would exhaust her youth, but of course all these without any regrets. Not to say impossible but it's really unimaginable to be doing the things and follow through the schedules we have today in say, 10 years time. So what's best to experience everything, then to do most when we're young and dandy, giddy and ready?

Sometimes I spend my afternoon day-dreaming of all the travelling I would love to do :) It was my wish in 2009, and travel more shall it be this 2011. I cannot stop myself from resting and dream. I will find my way to travel around. To feel with all my 5 senses of the pretty places around the world.

I need other side projects to work on, something totally new that could inspire me at dire times. Something that will uplift my spirit up on non-chalant days. Which an idea I thought that sometimes I think I'm an absolutely independent person. That I could live without strings not attached to me.

So 2011 is coming while I have always loved to review on how my year went by, especially this one, with almost like a blink of an eye I am particularly disappointed at some of the things that happened this year's. I mean I will not lie, there are times where I'm usually very optimistic about all the downside in life, sometimes you can't help but feel there should be more things you could do about it.

:(

Look! I have a really, really long thick hair. Any suggestions what I should do with it?

Company Trip Sneak Peak !

I usually hate teasers but ah what the heck, there are 3 things, I’d like to share in regards to the company trip before I roll out the official blogpost.

Sara uploads photos damn slow. She will probably be doing her “fake hit me” on the arm gesture when she sees this.

My secret santee was the office’s most gorgeous girl, beats the men also ok? Rina! Also the sweetest, because she provides us a lot of housekeeping stuff in the office J But fines us after that if we don’t submit our daily report -_____- Exactly like a mother, tough love.

Throughout the trip we were suppose to be a ‘guardian angel’ to someone, you know making sure the person is always around, safe or err get them... drunk :P and the person I had to guard was... MY BOSS! Hehehehe I have a whole bunch of his photos. Maybe I should do some photoshop and magic with it :P

TM Everyone Connects Viewing Parties!

Chelsea vs Manchester United? Cause I’m sure my boyfriend will head down to this, so someone gotta teman him for me while I do other stuff :P

That poor boy was awake about 4am yesterday to watch the match between Arsenal and ManU and head straight down to work. Who’s all for it and doesn’t mind having blue black eyes for

And like watching movies underneath the starlight, this is like watching your favourite players battling it out, with your friends of course bundled together. TM Everyone Connects has been quite a hit among the Man Utd fans nowadays, like how they recently sponsored the TM Everyone Connects anniversary that I went recently as well. This viewing session is also the largest live viewing party with the largest TV Screen in South East Asia. So football fans you don’t want to miss screaming profanities (not that I condone) and become football managers (like you always do behind the screen) when rooting for your team. All these with the rest of the fans and get yourself some Man Utd merchandise in the Fan Zone Seats when you sign up for any TM products or services. Okay. This sounds like a big concert only a parade of football fans.

I can actually foresee this to happen frequently in the near future. Like a blotch of people actually wearing all reds, and start colouring their faces with blue white paints. Check out all the listings of the shows and where they're showing HERE!

So who wants to come? You can get more information from their official Facebook Page. Like it, and you should be getting tons of other TM Everyone Connects events deets from then onwards. It's pretty awesome.

I never learn

I'm getting abit tired of myself.

How I always ended up not sleeping the night before I travel, packing, working, arranging, making sure I do not leave out anything behind. Mentally exhausted is a lot more crucial than being physically tired. It's during these times that I'm affirmed that I am a VERY disorganised person.

How I ;

a. Lose things

b. Lose people

c. Lose self - ) : )

I'll catch some sleep in the 5 hours drive to Singapore later. Till then, I will not be reachable via phone, or online most of the time - so please take note because I will be cruising the ocean.

Oh by the way, I am secretly happy that I lose myself sometimes in travelling. It's like getting to know myself all over again.

Love & peace,

Cruise

I have a couple of drafts waiting to be updated with pictures and colourful words but I've been too busy with work. Life sounds absolutely boring in bulleted points, that is why I refuse to update anything even when I know weeks can be summarised in point forms. A picture maybe, but not in point forms :(

I'm going for a company trip this coming Monday, and because there are so many things going on lately I couldn't help but feel more worry than excited.

The team will be going on a cruise with team building activities all planned out throughout the 5 days, and travelling around in a ship limits reachability so please don't go freaking out (especially you Mummy) if I don't reply your texts or if your phone calls don't go through.

What I am really looking forward to is a beach. The beach. Any beach in Phuket for that matter ; because I find calm and peace the most when I have a beer on my left hand while resting on a sand with absolutely no tech gadget on my right hand. Sounds like a dreamy postcard.

Most of my friends are now working, and it's weird to be in a dining table where each and everyone of us talks about work. It's a little less scary now that everyone's on the same boat with you and how different we see the world now that we're earning ourselves.

Here's a chant to myself, I'm gonna have a good break!

Love & peace,
Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

Thank you kind people, your thoughts are more precious

Mum's always a favourite of fantasy movies :) I wish I could bring her to watch Narnia - the first time we ever watched it was in Genting I think, and mum fell in love with it. Sigh. I miss you mummy - when I'm back for holiday I'll watch all kinds of movies with you okay? *kiss* And yes, the girl here still looks like you Jessy.

Today I posted on my Facebook asking whether there are people out there who would lend me their phone, cause well', I dropped mine into the toilet bowl the other day :( You know what makes me happier? People's replies. I honestly, sincerely did not expect this :)

Thanks kind people. You guys will go far in life.

TM Connects Everyone @ The Curve

Weekends are usually the sabbath days for me and my sister J We head down to the Curve last Sunday for some meatballs only to find out the queue was ridiculously long. It was almost 2PM, and we were desperately hungry. I hate you creamy meatballs L But tonight! I manage to grab some balls with Wendy J It’s really good to be having a company in working this time around.

So, that Sunday noon we eventually grabbed a bite at one of those fusion kopitiams where everything come in sets! Super value for money! Heard about the TM Everyone Connect Birthday Bash happening right smack in the middle of The Curve as well. That place is pretty awesome, they once held an indoor squash competition there. This time around they had like an indoor goal post for some indoor games.

Wasn’t quite sure what Everyone Connects was about at first because well frankly, I’m always so cooped up working in the office or at home that once I’m placed on my seat or my bed, and once I’m connected to the line, nothing else matters.

So basically Everyone Connects is a TM-powered movement for youngsters like you and I who lives and breathes on internet connectivity. It’s like we couldn’t stand being separated from online live updates, that we’d get seizure or have unsettling sleepless nights if we don’t get to kepoh on what everyone’s up to. Trust me, there are people out there who suffer from serious Internet connection withdrawal and they almost always have to stay connected, job scope or obsession wise. Which reminds me of The Social Network, the movie in connection with Facebook, not entirely about it.

Now I just have one question, how does Manchester United sponsor Everyone Connects?
I must have missed out this bit. O.O

And everything in between a busy schedule

I know life never goes according to plan, and even though we try our very best to make sure some elements in our life should go according to plan, for some strange reason life has it’s own twists and turns. So here’s to the year's remains and...

To planning my 2011!

Mummy and Aunty Moun paid us a visit last week, and I’ve always been that kind of daughter who tries a little too hard when it comes to spending time with my family when they’re around. I spoiled my sister a little too much sometimes, but she makes it up to me by being very independent nowadays. She manages her own public transport, her own walkabouts.

I’m proud J

This time around when mummy told me she wanted to go Melaka, I jumped at the idea and said yes to it without considering other million and one things around me. I have always been busy with work, so I told her that I would make all the necessary arrangements, all these while prioritizing on spending time with my family.

I even brought my laptop down Melaka, and worked late night on a Saturday while everyone was already sound asleep J It was a pleasant surprise indeed when I found out that it was my Aunty Moun’s first time down to Melaka and it was ages ago since Mum was there. So all the more reason to go!

I rented an MPV which costed about RM300 a day, it was in an excellent condition – spacious enough to move 8 of us around. I had a better deal before that, when early in the morning, just right before we were suppose to take the car, the man told me that the car (so conveniently) had problems so it wasn’t safe for us to use it. Blegh. I was trying to stay positive all the time, you know how travelling can be so stressful at times. I decided to just rent another car which was of course slightly more expensive.

ApaKaba GuestHouse

Slept at a colourful backpackers lodge.

And had crazy loads of food.

November has been fun. But it also constantly reminds me of what I should be planning for next year as I’ve become more aware of how I would like to see my days go by nowadays. I want to be able to maximize, optimize my days. I would like to remember the greatest things that’s ever happened to me when I look back at the year. *thinks hard*

The girls are like a bundle of joy. They make me say the darndest things, I make them say the darndest things. I like the first picture a lot because I don’t have any makeup in it and it’s still nice J Very Au Naturel.

On a Sunday noon ;

If there’s no one more semangat than you to plan a gathering or a party, or among other things – you will never have these kind of memorable photos.

My office is organizing a secret santa, should I have one among my close friends before I leave for KK for Christmas?

Goodnite. I shall have another good weekend! J

Going off to TM Everyone Connects event this Sunday. COMELAAA!

Love & peace,
Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

I love you muhibah boys

Sometimes I wonder why hanging out with boys seem a lot more easier than hanging out with some girls. Some girls are often twisted and emotionally unstable. They're like lose cannons, and they have all kinds of hidden motives. They write and say things cryptically. They pack in groups. Best part, I know I'm just about the same but figuratively, positive and positive don't usually go the best. While men just blatantly say things out loud, even if it hurts you. I don't know if it's a good thing, but I know I love these three amongst the few :)

Apa Kaba Guesthouse @ Jalan Chan Koon Cheng Melaka

When I told mummy that we will be staying at a backpackers' lodge in Melaka last weekend - she gave me a death stare. I knew she wouldn't like the idea of cramping everyone in a small room with one general bathroom.
Confirmed upon reaching, we had to look for another place besides the one that I booked, thankfully enough, the new place that we found was very near to our place which was about 3 minutes walk. Mum fell in love with it's homeliness and most importantly it's attached bathroom. While mum managed to get herself a room there, the boys, my cousins and I cramped in the youth hostel lodge that I booked. And met the friendly houseguard, Raj.
All of us fell in love with Apa Kaba. The family that ran the business was kind and helpful, very friendly too. The uncle warmed up to Daren and Kent almost immediately, within minutes they started throwing racist jokes at each other already.

I don't usually like homestay so much, because there's always a certain restriction imposed on you. Like how they lock the gates at certain hours, or you're "not allowed" to make too much noise when you're at the lounge. This was no exception..

I love backpackers and youth hostels because they're, simply put, exciting. Whenever people I travel with show signs of discomfort when they're in a big group of strangers or when sharing dorms or anything similar, I make mental notes to avoid travelling with them. Of course this comes with a great deal of judgement who these other tourists are, but more often than not we're so obsessed in having the perfect vacation we forget that part and parcel of an interesting holiday are the funny stories and random things that come along with it. Whiners are absolutely fatal to me. That is why I never minded travelling alone, all my life I have done my share of travelling alone.
I absolutely love this patio. It’s as relaxing as it looks like. I absolutely love this kind of getaway. Simple but it nourishes the soul. Gives you back perspectives in life, teaches you a lot of patience, and calms you down when you’re running at an ungodly speed.
It’s such a nice place and I recommend you to pay it a visit should you come down to Melaka J

Love & peace,
Jacqueline Rowena @ Jacqkie.

I want to go to

1. Redang
2. Mumbai
3. Langkawi

Let's make this happen Jacqkie. *chants

It's a pretty cold night.

A tinge of Arthritis. First night since Adelaide that I'm having this sudden jolt of pain on my left elbow. Not quite sure whether it's the same as the real arthritis as well, cause I know these things are quite severe. I don't think mine is. Cold.

Did you met pirate? :'( He's no longer at home with me. I became quite emotional thinking about him leaving us as I was away from him last night. I've only loved him for a day, and I've already grown to love him so much. Which got me thinking, is this how it feels like to be a parent of an item, to love someone, something so much?

Mum's coming KL next Friday. I am so excited to make it a good one for her, but am also worried with all the work limitations. Heck, I might even be bringing my laptop all over. Oh and I have this weird habit of watching my loved ones sleeping. You know those cliche lyrics like how they don't want to close their eyes so that they don't miss out that moment kinda thing (okaylah it was I Don't Want to Miss a Thing) I actually find it realistic because I actually do look and analyze my loved ones when they're sleeping next to me :/

On a Sunday night, I'm going to have my Friend's Marathon!

Super Pizza with 6 Super Powers!

Last day of the week's luncheons are usually spoiled. Last week's was no exception.

Meet Captain Cheese :)

Mmmmmmm. 6 types of Cheese. I personally like Cheddar the most. That is if I get the right cheese correctly - you know after it's all slopped and blobbed all together you can't really tell. Cheddar is a bit orangey.

..and we have a new HOUSEMATE! Trying to convince Kent to call it Pirate because of... ;)
